Crystal Palace Form

Crystal Palace have won just three of their last 13 games in all competitions, but two of them did come in the last three games.

On Monday, Roy Hodgson's side were beaten 2-0 away to Leeds. It was a comfortable win for the home side, shown by the 2.65 to 0.37 xG stats.

In Palace’s previous games, they won 1-0 at home to Wolves and 2-1 away at Newcastle. The Magpies could consider themselves very unlucky to come away with nothing after dominating with 1.91 to 0.81 xG score.

Crystal Palace Team News

Wilfried Zaha is Crystal Palace’s top scorer with nine league goals this season, but he is likely to remain on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

A long list of absentees includes defenders Mamadou Sakho, James Tomkins, Joel Ward and Nathan Ferguson.

Roy Hodgson is also without midfielders James McCarthy, James McArthur and Jeffrey Schlupp. Striker Connor Wickham is also unavailable.

Burnley Form

Burnley are on a four-game winless run, with the latest defeat seeing Sean Dyche’s side eliminated from the FA Cup on Tuesday.

Championship side Bournemouth beat them 2-0 at Turf Moor during the week.

That follows Premier League defeats to Chelsea 2-0 and Manchester City 2-0.

They also drew 1-1 with Brighton last weekend as Johan Gudmundsson levelled to cancel out Lewis Dunk's opener.

Burnley have won just two away games in the league this season and are the lowest-scoring team in the Premier League with just 14 goals in 22 games.

Burnley Team News

Burnley could be without defender Charlie Taylor for Saturday’s fixture.

Midfielders Josh Brownhill and Jack Cork are also doubts ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park, as is top scorer Chris Wood.

Head to Head

Overall, the clubs have met 50 times with Burnley having the better record of 20 victories compared to Crystal Palace’s 13 wins. There have been 17 draws.

Burnley won 1-0 when the sides met at Turf Moor back in November thanks to an early goal from Chris Wood.

Predictions

Both sides are struggling for form at the moment with Burnley finding goals very hard to come by. Under 2.5 goals has happened in eight of the last nine clashes at Selhurst Park and that is the best bet on Saturday.

A dour draw is predicted at Selhurst Park.

  • Crystal Palace have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches against Burnley (all competitions).
  • Crystal Palace have seen under 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 9 home matches against Burnley (all competitions).
  • Crystal Palace have kept 1 clean sheet in their last 5 matches (Premier League)
  • Burnley are winless in their last 4 matches (all competitions)
  • Burnley have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 6 away matches (Premier League).

Verdict

This match is certainly not likely to be a high-scoring affair. Both sides are likely to be without their top scorers with Wilfried Zaha and Chris Wood injured.

Under 2.5 goals is a strong bet for this game. A draw is a likely outcome in a fixture where both teams could be lacking that cutting edge.
