LA Galaxy are looking to snap out of a recent poor run when they host Vancouver Whitecaps in an MLS Western Conference clash.

The visitors are only just ending a difficult spell of their own and will be aiming to build some momentum. Both teams have struggled defensively lately and could be set to offer up goals.

There appears to be no end in sight for LA Galaxy’s struggles as they remain rooted to the bottom of the Western Conference. Greg Vanney’s team are winless in their last three matches and were held to a 1-1 draw at San Jose Earthquakes in their previous fixture.

A small positive is that LA Galaxy were on the road in those matches and are back at Dignity Health Sports Park, having claimed a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake in their previous home fixture. However, that has been their only home win in the league this season.

One of the issues for LA Galaxy is their vulnerable backline having conceded the opening goal in their last three matches. They have scored in six of their last eight fixtures while five of the last nine have produced over 2.5 gaps.

Vancouver Whitecaps head into the clash off the back of a victory over the other Los Angeles team. They picked up a 1-0 win over LAFC in their previous MLS fixture, with Emmanuel Sabbi’s first half effort proving the difference.

That result helped snap a difficult spell for Vancouver Whitecaps, who were winless in four of the previous five matches, suffering three defeats in that run. Jesper Sorensen's team had also suffered two straight away defeats prior to that win in Los Angeles.

With top scorer Brian White still on international duty at the Gold Cup, Vancouver Whitecaps often spread their goals across the team and have scored in seven of their last 10 matches. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of those matches while four of the last five have produced over 2.5 goals.
