Napoli were slightly fortunate to draw 0-0 at home against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg. Gattuso matched Atalanta 's 3-4-3 formation which backfired.

Napoli’s last match was a 2-1 defeat at Genoa. They had 66% possession 26-4 shots and 2.09-1.09 expected goals but couldn’t find an equaliser after Matteo Politano’s 79th minute goal.
