Aston Villa have been in great form in the Premier League this season, finding themselves 8th in the table with as many as two games in hand on a number of teams.

Dean Smith’s side had won back-to-back matches 3-0 against West Brom and Crystal Palace before an impressive performance in their 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

Last time out, they matched Manchester United at Old Trafford and were unfortunate not to get a result from the match. Villa lost 2-1 as Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes scored for United, with the latter’s coming from a contentious penalty decision.

Liverpool have really struggled in recent weeks and look to be missing the spark that has seen them have such success over the last two seasons in particular.

Their 7-0 thumping of Crystal Palace was followed up with two disappointing draws against teams they were expected to beat. They were held to a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom before playing out a 0-0 draw at Newcastle.

In their last match, they were beaten 1-0 away to Southampton thanks to Danny Ings’ clever finish in a match which saw Liverpool produce just one shot on target.
