Roma have risen to third in the table after recording three consecutive Serie A wins.

The side bounced back from their 4-1 defeat against Atalanta to defeat Cagliari in a 3-2 thriller at home. This was followed with a narrow 1-0 against Sampdoria with Edin Dzeko’s 72nd minute goal deciding the contest.

Roma’s most recent match capped off the perfect trifecta as they picked up the points against Crotone with a 3-1 win. I Giallorossi put the game to bed early with Real Madrid loanee Borja Mayoral scoring a brace inside the opening 30 minutes.

The 23-year-old started in place of Dzeko who came off the bench after coming into the match with a slight injury.

Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan then put the result beyond doubt in the 35th minute when he converted a penalty.

2021 has not been kind so far to Roma, with injuries beginning to pile up.

Veteran Pedro Rodriguez is still nursing a muscular injury and has been training individually, making him doubtful once again.

Defender Davide Santon is also expected to miss due to injury as is fellow fullback Riccardo Calafiori.

Left back Leonardo Spinazzola is a chance to return in some capacity after missing the last three matches due to injury.

Dzeko came into the Crotone match with an injury cloud but made a late appearance off the bench.

Inter have continued to keep within reach of league leaders AC Milan after another impressive month of form.

The nerazzuri recorded seven consecutive Serie A wins to hold their place in second and create a three-point gap between themselves and Roma.

Their last win was perhaps their most impressive. Despite conceding first, Inter piled on four second half goals to defeat Crotone 6-2.

Lautaro Martinez stood out with a hattrick, while Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi also contributed with goals of their own.

But this run of seven straight weeks came to abrupt end in the side’s unexpected 2-1 loss to Sampdoria last week. The loss is Inter’s first in nearly two months and saw them miss an opportunity to jump the Rossoneri on top of the table.

Inter’s 2-1 loss to Sampdoria was exacerbated with defender Danilo D’Ambrosio suffering a knee injury. The 32-year-old is expected to miss several matches after straining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Striker Romelu Lukaku could return to the starting line-up after coming off the bench in the loss to Sampdora. The Belgian forward picked up a knock during Inter’s win the previous week against Crotone but was not severe enough to rule him out completely.
