Lazio have been very inconsistent in recent weeks, going undefeated in 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions and winning six. The Rome club have defensive problems after failing to keep a clean sheet in 16 of their last 17 matches.

Simone Inzaghi's side drew 2-2 at home against Club Brugge to reach the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds. Lazio looked safe at 2-1 up in the 39th minute when the Belgian club were reduced to 10 men, but they conceded an equaliser and held on for a vital point.

Lazio returned to Serie A with a 2-1 home defeat to Hellas Verona. It was a disappointing effort with 0.65-0.96 expected goals.

Lazio’s last match was a 1-1 draw at Benevento on Tuesday. Ciro Immobile opened the scoring but they can have no complaints about the result after creating just 0.42 expected goals.

Centre-backs Patric and Francesco Acerbi are injured alongside left back Senad Lulic.

Striker Vedat Muriqi is also injured but midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro is available after suspension.

Lazio’s star striker Ciro Immobile has scored 11 goals in his last 11 matches in all competitions and continues to be the go to man.

Napoli Form

Napoli finished top of Group F in the UEFA Europa League that contained Rijeka, AZ Alkmaar and Real Sociedad. They held the Spanish club to a 1-1 draw in Naples in the final group game.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side got back to Serie A action with a 2-1 home win against Sampdoria. After trailing 1-0 at half time, goals to substitutes Hirving Lozano and Andrea Petagna completed the turnaround.

Napoli’s last match was a 1-0 defeat against Inter Milan at San Siro. They were bossing the match until the 71st minute David Ospina conceded a penalty and Lorenzo Insigne was sent off for protesting.

Romelu Lukaku converted and Napoli couldn’t find an equaliser. Andrea Petagna went close after hitting the post in a match where they had 3.26-1.32 expected goals.

Strikers Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens are injured. Expect Andrea Petagna to start up front.

Winger Lorenzo Insigne is suspended after his red card in Milan with Mexican Hirving Lozano to continue in the starting side as a result.
