Sheffield United's search for a first win of the Premier League season takes them to St Mary's to face Southampton on Sunday. The Blades have a point from 11 matches and are seeking some inspiration on the south coast.

Southampton returned to winning ways on Monday with a controversial 2-1 win over Brighton. Danny Ings returned from injury to get the winner from a VAR-awarded penalty.

It was a first win in three games for the Saints. They had drawn 1-1 with Wolves before conceding three goals in the final 30 minutes to lose 3-2 at home to Manchester United in the previous two fixtures.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team had reeled off three straight wins prior to that. They defeated Everton (2-0), Aston Villa (4-3) and Newcastle (2-0).

Ralph Hassenhuttl has a decision to make on whether to return Danny Ings to the starting line-up after his matchwinning return from the bench against Brighton.

Nathan Redmond is also back in the squad after injury. Mohammed Salisu could make his debut from the bench.

Sheffield United's sorry season took another turn last weekend when they conceded in the 90th minute to lose 2-1 at home to Leicester. 

Oli McBurnie's goal looked to have earned the Blades just their second point of the season, but instead it was a 10th loss in 11 matches.

Chris Wilder's side have lost six in a row following defeats to Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, West Ham and West Brom as well as Leicester. Sheffield United have also lost their last seven away games in the Premier League.

Defender Jack O'Connell is out for the season, while late decisions will be made over wing-back Enda Stevens and utility man Ethan Ampadu.
