Southampton made it three wins in their last four games when defeating Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend. A Gabriel own goal was the only one of the game.

That followed a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Premier League and a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury in their delayed third round fixture.

Sandwiched in between those two wins was a 2-0 defeat to Leicester in the Premier League

It has been a profitable period for the Saints, who have lost twice in their last 10 games since the start of December.

Striker Danny Ings made his return from COVID-19 on Saturday and is in line for his Premier League comeback.

Midfielder Oriol Romeu and centre-back Mohamed Salisu are approaching returns from injury, but may not be risked. 

Southampton's injury list still includes Nathan Tella, Michael Obafemi, Will Smallbone, Moussa Djenepo, Nathan Redmond and Jannik Vestergaard.

Arsenal's unbeaten six-game run came to an end in Saturday's disappointing loss at St Mary's as the defending champions exited the FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta opted to field a weakened side in that game and it didn't pay dividends despite the Gunners dominating with 62% possession.

The Gunners have won four of their previous six games with victories over Chelsea, Brighton, West Brom and Newcastle.

They also drew 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace and finished goalless with Newcastle in the FA Cup third round before winning it in extra-time.

Defender Pablo Mari is ruled out and both Dani Ceballos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are doubtful to feature. 

Kieren Tierney, Thomas Partey, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette were among those left out on the FA Cup tie. 

They should return with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe, Willian and Eddie Nketiah failing to impress.
