Liverpool Form

Back-to-back 3-1 wins over Tottenham and West Ham in the last seven days have revitalised Liverpool's season.

Having won one of their previous seven games in all competitions, goals from Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah sealed a crucial win at Tottenham.

Salah was on the mark again twice at West Ham on Sunday along with Georginio Wijnaldum to send Liverpool back up to third place.

The Reds' miserable run of form had seen them dumped out of the FA Cup 3-2 by Manchester United.

In their last game at Anfield, a 68-game unbeaten run was also ended in a dismal 1-0 defeat to Burnley.

Liverpool Team News

Centre-back Joel Matip is out for the season with an ankle injury. He joins long-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the sidelines.

Midfielder Fabinho, who has been filling in in defence, is still out. That means captain Jordan Henderson will continue with Nat Phillips or Rhys Williams.

The Reds' injury list also includes midfielder Naby Keita and forwards Diogo Jota and Saido Mane.

Defensive reinforcements arrive in new signings Ozan Kabak from Schalke and Preston's Ben Davies. But Takumi Minamino has joined Southampton on loan.

Brighton Form

Brighton got their first win at home in 15 games with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

Leandro Trossard's first-half goal was enough for Graham Potter's side to end the elusive search for a win at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls are enjoying an upturn in form with just two defeats in the last 11 matches in all competitions.

Brighton have won three of their last four thanks to a 1-0 at Leeds in the Premier League and 2-1 win against League One side Blackpool in the FA Cup fourth round.

They have also drawn 0-0 at home to Fulham. No club have more than Brighton's nine Premier League draws this season.

Brighton Team News

Ecuador international midfielder Moises Caicedo has been signed from Independiente del Valle. The 19-year-old is unlikely to feature at Anfield.

Defender Joel Veltman and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister are doubtful after picking up knocks against Tottenham.

Defender Tariq Lamptey (thigh) and forwards Danny Welbeck (knee), Florin Andone (knee) and Alireza Jahanbakhsh (ankle) are all ruled out.

Head to Head

Brighton held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium in November. Pascal Gross equalised in the 93rd minute to cancel out Diogo Jota's opener.

It was a dramatic game with Neal Maupay missing a penalty for the Seagulls and Mo Salah and Saido Mane having goals disallowed by VAR.

Liverpool still hold a 19-4 head to head record over Brighton with nine draws.

Predictions

Brighton are an improved side over the last month, but they run into a Liverpool side which has returned to form with a bang in the last two games.

Mo Salah has scored five times in his last three games and should be backed in the goalscoring markets.

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in 68 of their last 69 home matches (English Premier League).
  • Liverpool have won 38 of their last 43 home matches (English Premier League).
  • Liverpool have seen over 3.5 goals in their last 3 matches (all competitions).
  • Liverpool's Mo Salah has scored 5 goals in his last 3 matches (all competitions).
  • Brighton have lost all 3 previous away matches at Liverpool (English Premier League).
  • Brighton have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches against Liverpool (English Premier League).

Verdict

Liverpool have got their mojo back. The Reds saw their long unbeaten run at Anfield end last time, but they should put that firmly behind them with Mo Salah to continue his rich goalscoring form.
