The Blades’ only point this Premier League season came in a 1-1 home draw against Fulham, nine matches ago. It is worth noting that Chris Wilder’s men have only lost by more than one goal in one of their last five matches.

Fellow relegation strugglers, West Brom beat The Blades 1-0 at the end of November and that was followed by a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City. Their only heavy defeat in recent weeks came at Southampton as the Saints won 3-0.

Sheffield United’s last matched ended in a 3-2 defeat at home to Manchester United. Despite David McGoldrick giving them an early lead, Manchester United were leading 2-1 by the break, and 3-1 soon after. The hosts showed some fight as McGoldrick scored his second with four minutes to play but they couldn’t find the equaliser.

Centre-back Jack O’Connell is still out injured and continues to be a massive miss for The Blades. Oli McBurnie is expected to make a return in the forward areas after missing the match against Manchester United.

Sander Berge went off early against Man United with a hamstring injury. He is likely to be out for some time.

David McGoldrick scored twice in the last match and is almost certain to start. John Lundstram is a good option for Chris Wilder in midfield to freshen things up.
