Head to Head

This will be the first match between Atalanta and Real Madrid.

Atalanta Form

Atalanta are undefeated in 19 of their last 20 matches in all competitions. They have won their last three starting with a 3-1 home win against Napoli in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side returned to Serie A with a 1-0 win at Cagliari. They had to work hard for the victory with Luis Muriel coming off the bench to score in the 90th minute.

Atalanta’s last match was a 4-2 home win against Napoli. It was a deserved win after having 18-4 shots and 2.68-0.62 expected goals, but conceding 11 goals in their last five home matches will concern Gasperini.

Atalanta Injuries & Team News

Atalanta right back Hans Hateboer is injured.

Gasperini is unlikely to make many changes here but Josip Ilicic is a chance to return to the starting side.

Real Madrid Form

Real Madrid have been battling a number of injuries but still managed to win their last four matches in La Liga. They have cut the deficit behind Atletico Madrid to 3 points.

Zinedine Zidane’s side started the run with a 2-1 win at Huesca with two goals to Raphael Varane. Los Blancos returned home with 2-0 wins against Getafe and Valencia.

Real Madrid’s last match was a 1-0 win at Real Valladolid. Casemiro scored the winner in a match where they were missing top scorer Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid Injuries & Team News

Real Madrid have a number of players injured including defenders Dani Carvajal, Marcelo and Sergio Ramos.

Eder Militao and Alvaro Odriozola are doubtful, so expect Lucas Vázquez to continue at right back and Nacho to partner Raphael Varane in central defence.

Midfielder Federico Valverde is out alongside wingers Eden Hazard and Rodrygo. Isco was a substitute on Saturday, Zidane’s only significant weapon on the bench.

Karim Benzema picked up an injury in training, didn’t feature in Valladolid but should start in Italy.
