Torino have been having a poor season since, flirting with relegation and out of the Coppa Italia. They started 2021 with a 3-0 win at Parma but have failed to win in five matches since.

Marco Giampaolo’s side drew 1-1 against Hellas Verona before a 2-0 defeat at AC Milan. 

Torino took on AC Milan again three days later, eliminated in the Coppa Italia in a penalty shootout. They played against 10 men for the final 37 minutes but couldn’t break the deadlock in extra time.

Torino then drew 0-0 at home against Spezia despite playing against 10 men for 82 minutes. The club ran out of patience and sacked Giampaolo, appointing former Udinese and Genoa boss Davide Nicola.

Nicola’s first match in charge was a 2-2 draw at Benevento. They were 2-0 down with Simone Zaza scoring both goals including an equaliser in added time.

Fiorentina have found it tough this season but have managed to win three of their last six Serie A matches. La Viola won 1-0 at home against Cagliari thanks to Dusan Vlahovic’s 5th goal in six matches.

Cesare Prandelli’s side were then knocked out of the Coppa Italia against Inter Milan. Christian Kouamé equalised at home to take it to extra time where they conceded in the 119th minute.

Fiorentina returned to Serie A with a 6-0 loss at Napoli. They bounced back with a 2-1 home win against Crotone, Giacomo Bonaventura and Vlahovic establishing a 2-0 half time lead.
