Schalke ended 2020 by reaching the DFB-Pokal round of 16. The Miners won 3-1 at fourth division club Ulm with Suat Serdar opening the scoring and Benito Raman bagging a brace.

Christian Gross became Schalke’s fourth manager since September after replacing temporary boss Huub Stevens. His first match in charge resulted in a 3-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin. 

Schalke finally won in the Bundesliga after 31 matches without tasting victory. They won 4-0 at home against Hoffenheim, Amine Harit assisting Matthew Hoppe for the opening three goals and scoring himself to wrap it up.

Schalke’s last match was a 3-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt. Hoppe equalised in the 29th minute but they couldn’t hold on after having 33% possession and 0.14-1.98 expected goals.
