Barcelona will have everything to play for when they welcome Napoli at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Tuesday for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie while Camp Nou undergoes renovation.
- Barcelona vs Napoli – Tips and Preview
The Spanish side will look to make the most of their recent good run of form on Tuesday after a topsy-turvy season. The Catalans are unbeaten in eight games across all competitions and have kept clean sheets in the last three matches. With a long injury list, Xavi Hernandez will be glad to see his side on level terms with Napoli.
Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, and Ferran Torres have all been ruled out for the crucial fixture. However, Marcos Alonso and Raphina are expected to be back in the side. Under Francesco Calzona, Napoli have extended their unbeaten run to six games and are managing to get the job done, just like their next opponents.
However, the Italian side has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight games, which will be a worrisome fact for Calzona. Napoli boast of dangerous weapons in their arsenal, like Matteo Politano, Piotr Zielinski, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Osimhen, whom Barcelona will need to watch out for.
Barcelona vs Napoli – Tips and Preview
Three out of the last five meetings between these two teams have ended in 1-1 draws. The other two results have gone in Barcelona’s favour, leaving Napoli with no wins against the Spanish Giants in recent encounters.
While history books favour the hosts, the visitors will be looking to put the past behind them and pull off a statement victory on enemy territory. Napoli may just bag their first victory over the Catalonians this time around, breaking a defence that has not conceded in three matches.
Verdict
Past results back Barcelona, but Napoli may have found the X-factor and could pip the Spanish giants in the second leg.
