Slovenia and Doncic hit by issue before EuroBasket 2025
- Vlatko Cancar absent from EuroBasket 2025 due to knee injury.
- Luka Doncic will join the team later because of business commitments.
- Uncertain status for player Josh Nebo, recovery ongoing.
- Slovenia's squad includes 18 strong players ready to compete.

The Slovenian national team has been significantly weakened ahead of EuroBasket 2025, as it has been officially confirmed that Vlatko Cancar, the new Olimpia Milano player and former member of the Denver Nuggets, will not be able to help his teammates due to ongoing recovery from a knee injury.
Cancar, one of Nikola Jokic’s good friends from Denver, didn’t get much playing time during his five seasons with the Nuggets. About ten days ago, he signed a two-year contract with Milano worth a total of 2.8 million euros.
His greatest achievement with the Slovenian national team came in 2017, when Slovenia won the gold medal at EuroBasket after defeating Serbia in the final.
Head coach Aleksander Sekulic is already facing several potential problems at the start of preparations, including the uncertainty around naturalized American Josh Nebo, who is still recovering from injury.
Luka Doncic, by far the biggest star of the team, will play at EuroBasket but is expected to join the squad a bit later due to business commitments related to his signature shoe brand in the United States.
As of now, the extended Slovenia national team roster includes the following 18 players:
Luka Doncic, Miha Cerkvenik, Ziga Daneu, Zoran Dragic, Vit Hrabar, Gregor Hrovat, Robert Jurkovic, Martin Krampelj, Urban Kroflic, Edo Muric, Josh Nebo, Aleksej Nikolic, Mark Pradjen, Klemen Prepelic, Rok Radovic, Zak Smrekar, Leon Stergar, and Luka Scuka.
