One of the best EuroLeague players of the past decade, Nikola Mirotic - born in Montenegro but a former Spanish national team member, has officially joined last season’s EuroLeague finalist, AS Monaco, signing a two-year deal.
Rumors had been circulating for weeks, maybe even a month, that Mirotic was close to joining the club from the Principality. Today, the move was finally confirmed, and the experienced power forward is now fully available to coach Vassilis Spanoulis and his staff.
Monaco published the news on their official website, stating that this signing reflects the club’s highest ambitions. Mirotic echoed those sentiments, saying he sees Monaco as a clear contender for next season and that both he and the team face a big challenge ahead.
Last season in the EuroLeague, Mirotic played for Milan, averaging 17.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, despite dealing with injury issues throughout the year.
From 2008 to 2014, Mirotic played for Real Madrid before moving to the NBA, where he suited up for the Bulls, Pelicans, and Bucks. He then returned to Europe, playing for Barcelona and, most recently, Milano - and now, Monaco.
