South Africa are aiming to bounce back from a defeat last time out when they face Zimbabwe at the Stade de Marrakech in their final AFCON Group B fixture.

The Warriors gave themselves a lifeline with a draw last time out and will be keen to build on that result. However, Bafana Bafana have the superior quality coming into this clash and should claim the upper hand.

Zimbabwe News

Zimbabwe head into this clash off the back of a 1-1 draw with Angola in their previous fixture. They fell behind midway through the first half but struck back just before the break through Knowledge Musona.

Having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Egypt in their opening fixture, Friday's draw offers a vital point for Zimbabwe. The Warriors now have a lifeline, and a win on Monday gives them a great chance of progressing from the group.

However, the problem for Zimbabwe is that their overall form has been poor lately, with just one win in their last nine matches across all competitions. Mario Marinica's team have been beaten five times on this run.

South Africa News

South Africa suffered a 1-0 defeat to Egypt in their previous fixture after conceding via a first half penalty. They remain second in the table and need a win on Monday to guarantee a place in the round of 16.

While the result was disappointing, manager Hugo Broos will consider it a minor blip as it was South Africa’s first defeat in 10 matches across all competitions. Bafana Bafana had also won the previous four matches and will be confident of getting things back on track.

South Africa often make fast starts and have scored first in four of their last five matches across all competitions. They have also scored over 1.5 goals in three of those fixtures.

Head to Head

South Africa have seven wins, and two draws, while Zimbabwe have been victorious just three times in the last 12 matches. Both teams met during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with Bafana Bafana winning 3-1 at home before a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.

Verdict

South Africa will be keen to lay down an early marker in this game and having scored first in four of their last five matches, a repeat could be considered here. They have also scored over 1.5 goals in three of those five fixtures and could be set for a similar pattern here.

Bafana Bafana have a good record in this fixture and have also won four of their last five matches across all competitions. They should get the better of Zimbabwe, who have been unconvincing lately.
