West Ham United are on the verge of signing free agent Kyle Walker-Peters after his proposed move to Besiktas fell through.

Talks between both parties accelerated this week, and the Hammers have agreed personal terms with the full-back, who is expected to sign a three-year contract until 2028 at the club.

Walker-Peters became a free agent this summer following the expiration of his contract with Southampton, where he spent the last five seasons.

He was close to joining Besiktas, but the move failed to materialise after the defender requested more time before finalising the deal. The Turkish club, however, confirmed in a statement that they were withdrawing from negotiations with the defender.

The 28-year-old, who joined Southampton from Tottenham Hotspur in 2020, has made 148 Premier League appearances, including 33 last season, as the Saints were relegated from the top flight.

He is expected to undergo a medical at West Ham this week and is set to become the third summer signing at the London Stadium. The club has already made the loan move for Jean-Clair Todibo permanent and also completed a £19 million purchase of El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague.
