Following their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Botafogo return to domestic action as they travel to Vasco Da Gama for a Brazilian Serie A fixture.

The visitors are coming into a new era under a new manager and will be looking to make a positive start. However, the hosts are showing some good form in front of their fans lately and can do enough to avoid defeat.

Botafogo caught the eye at the Club World Cup after reaching the round of 16 where they suffered a 1-0 extra-time defeat to fellow Brazilians Palmeiras. The end of that tournament saw the departure of manager Renato Paiva, with Davide Ancelotti now charged with leading the champions on the rest of their title defence.

Before leaving for the Club World Cup, Botafogo had been in good form in the league and were unbeaten in four straight Serie A matches, beating Ceará 3-2 in their previous fixture. However, their away form needs some work as they are winless in three of their last four league matches on the road.

Botafogo have no problems going forward and have scored in five of their last seven matches across all competitions. However, they often struggle to maintain their discipline at the back, having failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five fixtures.
