Valencia welcome Mallorca to the Estadio de Mestalla for a Friday night Spanish La Liga fixture, with both teams keen to ease away from danger.

Separated by just two points in the table, both teams are showing similar form at the moment. They will be desperate to avoid defeat here and could be set to cancel each other out.

Valencia News

Valencia are coming off a 2-0 victory at Gijon in a midweek Copa Del Rey fixture. That was a timely return to winning ways for Carlos Corberan's team, who had been winless in their previous four matches, losing 2-1 at Atletico Madrid last time out in La Liga.

Sitting above the bottom three only on goal difference, Valencia will be keen to spark some momentum to ease away from danger. Home form is likely to play a pivotal role, and they are unbeaten in their last three matches at the Mestalla, playing out two draws on this run.

Valencia have shown some quality going forward lately, scoring in their last seven matches across all competitions. However, they are without a clean sheet in four of the last five fixtures, while their last three home matches have produced more goals after the break.

Mallorca News

Mallorca are two points above the hosts after claiming a 3-1 home victory over Elche last time out in La Liga. However, they will come into this clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Deportivo La Coruna in their midweek Copa Del Rey fixture.

Jagoba Arrasate’s team are unbeaten in five of their last seven La Liga matches, with three of those fixtures ending in draws. They are also unbeaten in two of their last three away matches across all competitions.

Mallorca often show some attacking quality and have scored in seven of their last 10 matches across all competitions. However, they are without a clean sheet in five of the last six fixtures on this run, while two of their last three away matches have produced more second-half goals.

Head to Head

Mallorca have five wins while Valencia have been victorious four times, with one draw in the last 12 matches. The hosts claimed a 1-0 home victory in the last meeting back in March.

Verdict

Neither defence has been convincing this season, and both teams are expected to score here. Both sides also have a knack for leaving things late and could be set to offer up more goals after the break.

Valencia and Mallorca are showing similar form lately, and with little to separate them, they could be set to cancel each other out.
