Uganda vs Nigeria Tips & Preview - Super Eagles to maintain perfect record
- Nigeria aiming to continue winning streak in Group C.
- Uganda hoping for a turnaround to qualify as a third-placed team.
- Head-to-head advantage lies with Uganda in past encounters.
Uganda vs Nigeria
Nigeria are aiming to maintain their perfect record in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations when they face Uganda at the Complexe Sportif de Fes.
The Super Eagles are already through to the knockout stage but will be keen to keep their momentum going. They should have the upper hand over the Cranes.
Uganda News
Uganda are coming off a 1-1 draw with Tanzania in their previous group fixture. Following a drab first half, the game burst into life, with Uche Ikpeazu netting a late equaliser after they fell behind.
That result means Uganda remain winless in the competition, having begun their campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Tunisia. Paul Put's team are currently bottom of the table, but they are not down and out yet as a win on Tuesday could see them qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
The problem for Uganda is that their overall form has been poor as they are winless in four of their last five matches across all competitions. There has been at least one first-half goal in four of those last five matches.
Nigeria News
Nigeria head into this clash off the back of a 3-2 victory over Tunisia last time out. They raced to a three-goal lead through Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman and had to hold on after the Tunisians attempted a late fightback.
Having claimed a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in their opening fixture, Nigeria have now won their opening two matches in Group C. Eric Chelle's team have already qualified for the round of 16 but will be keen to maintain their momentum.
Nigeria have shown some attacking quality at the AFCON, scoring first in their two matches. There has also been at least one first-half goal in both their fixtures at the tournament.
Head to Head
Uganda have never lost in this fixture, with two wins and a draw from three previous matches. The last meeting was a friendly in 2015, which ended in a 1-1 scoreline.
Verdict
Nigeria are having a solid campaign in Morocco and have won their opening two matches while also scoring first in both fixtures. They should play out a similar pattern against Uganda, who are unconvincing at the moment.
There has been at least one goal in four of Uganda’s last five matches across all competitions. With Nigeria also playing out a similar pattern in their two Group C matches, a repeat could be on the cards here.
