It is top against bottom in Group B of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers as Switzerland welcome Sweden to the Stade de Geneve on Saturday. 

The hosts have enjoyed a smooth ride in the qualifiers and are now on the brink of reaching next year's tournament, which will be held in North America. They should get the better of the Swedes, who have endured a disappointing campaign and are heading into their first game under a new manager.

Switzerland have been almost flawless in this campaign, with three wins and a draw from their four matches so far. Murat Yakin’s team are three points clear at the top of the table and can confirm their qualification with a win on Saturday.

After claiming three straight wins, Switzerland dropped points for the first time as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Slovenia in their previous fixture. The good news is that they are back home for Saturday's clash and have won their last three matches in front of their fans.

At the heart of Switzerland’s recent good form is a sturdy backline that is yet to concede a single goal in the qualifiers. The Swiss have also kept clean sheets in their last five matches across all competitions.

It has been a disappointing qualifying campaign for Sweden, who are rooted to the bottom of the table with one point after failing to earn a single win from their four matches so far. However, there is still a path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup via the UEFA Nations League, and they will be keen to find some spark under Graham Potter, who is set for his first game in charge. 

Sweden head into Saturday's clash off the back of three straight defeats, including a 1-0 home loss to Kosovo last time out. They have also found things difficult on their travels and are winless in three of their last four away matches across all competitions.

A surprising issue for Sweden is a lack of cutting-edge in attack, having failed to score in their last three matches. That problem could be made worse by the absence of Viktor Gyokeres through injury, while Alexander Isak has been dealing with groin trouble and could be a fitness concern for the visitors.

Sweden have six wins while Switzerland have been victorious five times, with three draws in the last 14 matches. The hosts claimed a 2-0 away victory in the reverse fixture back in October.

It has been contrasting fortunes for both teams in this group, with Switzerland near perfect while Sweden have been well below the best. Having won their last three home matches, the Swiss could be backed to claim the upper hand here.
