Scotland are aiming to maintain their recent momentum when they host Belarus in Group C of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers.

The hosts are playing with confidence at the moment and have already beaten the visitors in the reverse fixture. They should have too much for the Belarusians, who are looking out of their depth in this campaign.

Scotland News

Scotland are coming off a 3-1 home victory over Greece in their previous Group C fixture. They came to life after a drab first half, with efforts from Ryan Christie, Lewis Ferguson and Lyndon Dykes earning them the win.

That result extends Scotland's unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions, with three wins in that stretch. Steve Clarke's team are now level on seven points with Denmark at the top of Group C.

One impressive thing about Scotland's recent form is their attacking quality, having scored two or more goals in three of their last four matches across all competitions. They have scored in both halves in two matches in this run, while three of those four fixtures have also produced a clean sheet.

Belarus News

While Scotland are flying high in the qualifiers, Belarus appear to be out of their depth in Group C. Carlos Ferrer's team have lost all three of their matches and are currently bottom of the table.

Belarus travel to Hampden Park off the back of a 6-0 home defeat to Denmark in their previous fixture. Despite being at home, they created little going forward and finished with just a single attempt on target throughout the contest.

That result highlights Belarus’ recent attacking problems as they have now failed to score in their last two matches. They have also conceded in both halves in their last four matches across all competitions.

Head to Head

Scotland have three wins while Belarus have been victorious twice in the last five matches. The Scots claimed a 2-0 away victory in the reverse fixture back in September.

Verdict

Scotland have been solid defensively lately, keeping clean sheets in three of their last four matches. With Belarus struggling for goals lately, another shutout could be considered here.

The Scots have also won to nil in two of their last four matches, including the reverse fixture, and could be set for a repeat. Having scored in both halves in the reverse clash, the hosts could be set for a similar pattern on Sunday, with Belarus also conceding in both halves in their last four fixtures.
