Marcus Rashford is close to securing a season-long loan move to Spanish champions Barcelona from Manchester United, with the deal reportedly including an option to buy.
Discussions between all parties are nearing their final stages, and United have given Rashford the green light to open talks with the Catalan club, who are keen to bring in another forward this summer.
The England international has always favoured a move to Barcelona, and the Spanish side are eager to complete the deal after their attempts to sign top targets Nico Williams and Luis Díaz failed to materialise.
The 27-year-old has been training individually over the past few weeks and is one of five United players deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Ruben Amorim. Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has approved the move and is happy to welcome the England forward to the squad.
Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after falling out with Amorim. He scored four goals for Unai Emery’s side, who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League.
He has three years remaining on his current contract and has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for United since making his first-team debut as a teenager in February 2016. He has won five major honours at Old Trafford, including two FA Cups and a Europa League title.
