Rangers are seeking their first win in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League as they host Roma on matchday four.

The Scottish giants are trying to get their season back on track after a managerial change. Meanwhile, the Italians are looking sharp on their recent travels and have the quality to take advantage of the turbulence in Glasgow.

It has been a turbulent season for Rangers, who have lost all three of their league phase matches and are currently sitting at the bottom of the table. They were beaten 3-0 at Brann last time out and their problems led to the sacking of manager Russell Martin, with Danny Rohl the new man in charge.

Rangers have shown flashes of quality under Rohl, earning two straight wins before suffering a 3-1 extra-time League Cup defeat at Celtic last weekend. Some home improvement is also needed, having won just two of their last seven matches across all competitions at Ibrox.

Poor defending seems to be one of the problems for Rangers, who are without a clean sheet in four of their last five home matches. However, they have scored in eight of their last 10 matches while their last two Europa League fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Roma are also seeking some traction for their league phase campaign, having picked up just one win from their three matches so far. They were beaten 2-1 at home by Viktoria Plzen in their previous fixture.

The Italian side’s overall form has been solid enough lately, earning two wins and suffering a 1-0 Serie A defeat at AC Milan last weekend. However, prior to that result in Milan, Roma had won all five of their away matches this season, with their only win in the Europa League coming on the road, a 2-1 victory over Nice.

Roma often show some attacking quality and have scored in five of their last six away matches. However, they are without a clean sheet in six of their last seven matches across all competitions, while two of their three Europa League fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Rangers are still trying to get their season back on track, and Roma have the quality to take advantage of their problems. Having won five of their last six away matches, the Italians will be confident of claiming the upper hand here.

Neither defence has shown much solidity lately, and both teams are likely to score on Thursday. With Rangers’ last two Europa League matches producing over 2.5 goals, a similar outcome could also be on the cards.
