A place in the last four is up for grabs as Porto host Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Taca de Portugal. 

The hosts are in good form at the moment and have been particularly solid on home soil. They will be keen to show their quality over their rivals, who have stumbled slightly lately.

Porto are in the quarter-finals after claiming a 3-0 victory over Sintrense in the previous round. Borja Sainz opened the scoring in the first half, while Deniz Gul and Rodrigo Mora added further goals after the break. 

The hosts have been in good form lately and head into this clash with nine wins from their last 10 matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 victory over Santa Clara last weekend. Francesco Farioli’s team have also won at least one half in eight of their last nine home matches.

Goals have not been a problem for Porto, who have scored first in their last seven matches across all competitions. However, they are without a clean sheet in four of their last five home matches across all competitions.

Benfica claimed a 2-0 victory at Farense to progress to the quarter-finals of the Taca de Portugal. Richard Rios grabbed the opener in the first half, while Franjo Ivanovic added the second after the break. 

Jose Mourinho’s team have not been at their best lately and are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Braga in a League Cup semi-final clash. However, they have done some good work on their recent travels and are winless in nine of their last 10 away matches. 

Like the hosts, Benfica have also shown some attacking quality, scoring in their last 10 matches across all competitions. However, they are without a clean sheet in the last three fixtures on this run.

Verdict

Porto have looked almost unstoppable lately and will be keen to put on a show in front of their fans. Having won at least one half in eight of their last nine home matches, they could be set for a similar pattern.
