Poland are looking to maintain the pressure on the Group G leaders when they host Finland in the UEFA World Cup qualifiers.

The hosts will be feeling confident heading into this clash, having done some of their best work at home lately. They should come out on top against the visitors, who have found things difficult on their recent travels.

Poland News

Poland fought back from behind to earn a 1-1 away draw with the Netherlands in their previous fixture, with Matty Cash netting a late equaliser. That result means they are unbeaten in three of their four matches so far and leaves them second in the group only on goal difference.

Having been away in their last two qualifying matches, Poland are back home for Sunday's clash. Jan Urban's team often impress in front of their fans and have won their last three home matches across all competitions.

With Robert Lewandowski leading the line, Poland often look sharp going forward and have scored over 1.5 goals in three of their last five home matches. Five of their last eight home fixtures across all competitions have also produced over 2.5 goals.

Finland News

Finland are level on seven points with Poland but currently sit third in the table on goal difference. Their last qualifying outing was a 2-1 victory over the Poles in the reverse fixture.

While Finland will be looking to build on that result, their recent away form has been unconvincing. They are winless in eight of their last nine matches, suffering six defeats on this run, including a 1-0 loss to Norway in a friendly on Thursday.

Finland often show attacking quality but tend to find it difficult keeping things tight at the back. Six of the last 10 away matches across all competitions for Jacob Friis' team have produced over 2.5 goals.

Head to Head

Poland have three wins while Finland have been victorious twice, with two draws in the last seven matches. While the Finns triumphed 2-1 in the reverse fixture, the Poles have won the last two home meetings, easing to a 5-1 victory in a friendly back in 2020.

Verdict

Poland often impress in front of their fans and have won their last three home matches across all competitions. They should have the upper hand over Finland, who are winless in eight of their last nine away fixtures.

The Poles are also solid going forward and having scored over 1.5 goals in three of their last five home matches, a repeat could be considered here. With the last two meetings between both teams producing over 2.5 goals, a similar outcome could also be on the cards.
