Pisa are still seeking their first win of the season as they host Lazio in an Italian Serie A fixture on Thursday.

The hosts are struggling to cope with the quality in the topflight and are particularly poor going forward. Meanwhile, the visitors are building some momentum and will be keen to show their superior quality over the newly promoted side.

Having lost three of their opening four matches, Lazio appear to be finding their form lately and are unbeaten in their last four fixtures. Maurizio Sarri's team have also won at least one half in three of those four fixtures.

Lazio's recent form has been driven by a solid defence, which has kept clean sheets in three of their last four matches, with the last two fixtures producing under 2.5 goals. The two games have also offered up under 1.5 goals in both halves.

The only two meetings between both teams came in the 1990-91 season, with Lazio going unbeaten. The visitors held out for a 0-0 home draw in the first meeting before earning a 1-0 away victory in the reverse fixture.

There is a gulf in quality between both teams, with Pisa winless this season while Lazio are unbeaten in their last four matches. Having won at least one half in three of those fixtures, the capital club is expected to play out a similar pattern here.

Both sides often play out low-scoring outcomes, and with Pisa’s last five home matches producing under 2.5 goals, a repeat is expected here. With those four fixtures also serving up under 1.5 goals in both halves, a similar outcome could be on the cards.
