Recent meetings between both teams have been tight, closely-fought contests and Saturday's clash should be no different. However, Verdao have shown more balance and composure in the tournament and should do enough to reach the last eight.

Manager Abel Ferreira will be pleased with the fight shown by his team while the result means Palmeiras remain unbeaten in the competition. Consistency has been at the heart of their recent form while their ability to thrive under pressure means they are unbeaten in 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Palmeiras have four goals in this tournament, all of which have been scored after the break. The result against Inter Miami also highlights a defensive vulnerability that could be exploited by clever attacks.

Alongside Palmeiras, Botafogo have been one of the surprise teams at this year's Club World Cup. They qualified for the round of 16 after claiming two wins from their three group stage fixtures, beating UEFA Champions League winners PSG 1-0 along the way.

Although things have been great in the US, Botafogo will head into this clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in their previous fixture. However, that was a rare loss, having claimed five straight wins across all competitions prior to that result.

Botafogo have no problems in attack and are led by Igor Jesus, who scored in two of the three group stage fixtures. However, they need to tighten up at the back having failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four matches across all competitions.

Botafogo have the upper hand in recent meetings with Palmeiras and are unbeaten in the last five matches. Both teams played out a 0-0 draw in their Brazilian Serie A clash back in March.

Botafogo are in good form at the moment and have the ability to cause problems for anyone. However, Palmeiras look the more balanced side at the moment and given their reputation for being composed under pressure, they should progress to the quarter-finals.

Both teams have scored in three of their last four meetings while two of the last three have produced more goals after the break. Saturday's clash is likely to follow a similar pattern.
