Nigeria vs Rwanda Tips & Preview - Super Eagles to breathe new life into their campaign
- Nigeria have 1 win in 6 Group C CAF qualifiers; sit 4th, 6 points off top.
- Rwanda, just above Nigeria, are winless in 5 of last 6 matches and struggle away.
- Nigeria won the previous meeting 2-0; strong home record gives them edge.

Nigeria vs Rwanda
Nigeria are aiming to breathe new life into their campaign when they hosts Rwanda in Group C of the CAF World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles have not been at their best in these qualifiers, but will look to make it count in their remaining home games. They should have the upper hand over the visitors, who have found things difficult in their recent matches.
Nigeria News
It has not been the smoothest qualifying campaign for Nigeria, who have picked up just one win from their six Group C matches so far. They played out a 1-1 home draw with Zimbabwe in their previous fixture, with Victor Osimhen’s second-half effort cancelled out by the visitors.
Sitting fourth in the table, six points behind leaders South Africa, the task for Nigeria will be to get things back on track. Eric Chelle’s team are unbeaten in their last five home matches in front of their fans.
While they do not show their full ability going forward, Nigeria have plenty of attacking quality in their ranks. They have scored over 1.5 goals in two of their last four home matches across all competitions.
Rwanda News
Rwanda are only one point ahead of Nigeria, having picked up just two wins from their six matches in Group C. They played out a 1-1 home draw with Lesotho in their previous qualifying fixture and will head into this clash off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Algeria in a friendly in June.
Those two results are part of a poor run for Rwanda, who are winless in five of their last six matches across all competitions, losing four times on this stretch. They are also poor on their travels and have lost five of their last six away matches across all competitions.
One of the problems for Rwanda lately is a lack of cutting-edge in attack, which has seen them fail to score in three of their last four matches. It is a similar situation on the road as Adel Amrouche’s team have failed to find the net in four of their last six away matches.
Head to Head
Nigeria have three wins while Rwanda have been victorious just once, with four draws from the last eight matches. The Super Eagles’ only victory in the qualifiers came against the visitors, a 2-0 away win in the reverse fixture in March.
Verdict
Nigeria have already won in Rwanda and will be looking to complete the double on Saturday. The hosts have kept clean sheets in four of the last five meetings, and with the visitors struggling for goals at the moment, a home win to nil could be considered.
The Super Eagles scored over 1.5 goals in the first meeting and secured a win to nil in that clash. They will be confident of playing out a similar outcome on Saturday.
