Nigeria battle Mozambique in an Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 clash at Complexe Sportif de Fes, with both teams eyeing a quarter-final spot.

Mozambique's campaign in Morocco has not been particularly smooth, as they qualified as one of the best third-placed teams. Chuquinho Conde's team picked up just one win and suffered two defeats from their three group stage matches.

The Mambas come into this clash off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Cameroon in their final Group F fixture. That result is part of a lengthy poor run that stretches beyond the AFCON, as they are winless in five of their last six matches across all competitions, losing four times in that stretch.

Led by Geny Catamo, who has found the net twice in the competition, Mozambique often adopt an open style of play. Their last two matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Nigeria have never lost in this fixture, with four wins and a draw from five previous matches against Mozambique. The most recent meeting was a friendly in 2023, with the Super Eagles claiming a 3-2 victory.

Nigeria have looked sharp in attack at the AFCON and having scored over 1.5 goals in their three matches, a repeat is expected here. The three-time African champions have also led at the break in all three fixtures, and a similar pattern could be on the cards.

Mozambique lost two of their three Group stage matches and could find it difficult against Nigeria. Having earned a win and over 2.5 goals in their three fixtures, the Super Eagles are likely to play out a similar outcome on Monday.
