Nigeria vs Morocco

Nigeria face hosts Morocco at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations, with both teams eyeing a place in the final.

Both teams have stood out in the competition for their performances and attacking style of play. They could be set to serve up a close contest on Wednesday, with goals expected here.

Nigeria News

Nigeria progressed to the semi-final after an impressive 2-0 victory over Algeria in the previous round, with Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams getting the goals. That result means Eric Chelle's team are the only side in the competition to reach this stage with a perfect record.

The Super Eagles may have only won three AFCON titles, but have a fine record of getting to the latter stages of tournaments. They have played in eight previous finals and will be keen to go one better this year, having lost to the Ivory Coast in the 2023 final.

Goals have not been a problem for Nigeria, who have scored in every game so far, while there has been at least one first-half goal in four of their five matches. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their five fixtures so far.

Morocco News

Morocco claimed a 2-0 victory over Cameroon to reach the final, with Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari getting their goals. Unlike Nigeria, they do not boast a perfect record, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Mali during the group stage.

The Carthage Eagles are considered one of the top teams on the continent, but their AFCON record is underwhelming. They boast just one title and have not played in a final since 2004.

Led by Diaz, who has five goals, Morocco have looked sharp in attack, scoring in every game so far. There has been at least one first-half goal in four of the five matches for Walid Regragui's team.

Head to Head

Morocco have five wins while Nigeria have picked up three victories, with one draw in the last 12 matches. Both teams met during the group stage of the 2004 AFCON, with the North Africans claiming a 1-0 victory.

Verdict

Nigeria have scored in every game at this year's tournament, and that trend is expected to continue here. Given the habit of both teams to score before the break, the first half is likely to produce over 0.5 goals on Wednesday.

Both sides have shown plenty of attacking quality in this competition and could be set to score here.
