Newcastle United welcome Barcelona to St James' Park for their opening fixture in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

The Catalans were rampant in their La Liga fixture on Sunday, easing to a 6-0 home victory over Valencia. They have also won two of their last three away matches, winning at least one half in all three fixtures.

Barcelona are considered one of the best attacks in the competition and have scored over 1.5 goals in three of their last four matches. Hansi Flick's team have also grabbed the opening goal in all four fixtures so far.

Barcelona have three wins while Newcastle United have picked up just one victory in four previous matches. The last meeting between both teams came in 2003, with the Catalans claiming a 2-0 away victory.
