Morocco begin their campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a Group A clash against Comoros.

The tournament hosts are rated as one of the best teams in Africa in recent times and are considered the favourites to claim the title on home soil. They have looked almost unstoppable lately and should have too much quality for the Comorians.

Morocco are considered one of the best African teams but have surprisingly won one AFCON title and crashed out in the round of 16 in the 2023 edition. They will be keen to win the 2025 tournament on home soil and will look to make a positive start.

The status as AFCON favourites is well earned by Morocco, who recently qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 100% record from eight matches. Walid Regragui’s team are currently on a 16-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Morocco have plenty of attacking quality, and scored in both halves in two of their final three World Cup qualifying fixtures. They are also solid at the back and have kept clean sheets in nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions.

Comoros News

Comoros are making only their second appearance at the AFCON after crashing out in the knockout stage back in 2021. They progressed as one of the best third-place teams in the group phase before falling to Cameroon in the round of 16.

The Comorians were one of the surprise teams in the qualifiers, going unbeaten in six matches to finish top of their group above Tunisia and Gambia. Among their memorable results in the qualifiers was a 1-0 away win over Tunisia.

The task for Comoros will be to carry that form into the tournament in Morocco as they look to progress from Group A. However, their recent form does not inspire much confidence, having lost their last three matches.

Morocco have a solid record in this fixture, winning all four previous matches against Comoros. Both teams met during the group stage of the 2021 edition, with the Moroccans claiming a 2-0 victory.

A one-sided contest is expected here as Morocco have too much quality for Comoros. Having secured a number of dominant wins in their recent matches, the Moroccans could be backed in the handicap market.

Morocco have won to nil in eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions and could be set for a repeat here. A dominant display on Sunday could also see them score in both halves.
