Los Angeles will aim to move on from their FIFA Club World Cup disappointment when they host Vancouver Whitecaps in an MLS Western Conference fixture.

The hosts were in good form before pausing for the global tournament and will keep keen to pick it up once again. They should have the upper hand over the visitors, who are struggling to find their best form at the moment.

It was a disappointing campaign at the Club World Cup for Los Angeles, who crashed out of the competition without a single win. However, they did attempt to finish things in a respectable manner, battling to a 1-1 draw with Brazilian side Flamengo in their final fixture.

Sitting sixth in the Western Conference, Los Angeles will now look to pile the pressure on the front runners as they return to MLS action. Steven Cherundulo's team are unbeaten in their last six home matches in the league, picking up five wins in that run, including a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas in their previous fixture.

French striker Olivier Giroud is set to seal a move to Lille but Denis Bouanga remains to lead the Los Angeles attack having scored eight goals this season. However, defending remains a problem as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine matches while their last five MLS fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Vancouver Whitecaps Form

Vancouver Whitecaps have lost their way in recent weeks and head into this clash winless in four of their last five matches across all competitions. They suffered a 5-3 home defeat to San Diego last time out and are now second in the Western Conference, two points off the pace.

That defeat to San Diego is part of a poor away record for Vancouver Whitecaps, who are winless in their last five matches across all competitions. Jesper Sorensen's team have lost the last two in that run, including a 5-0 thrashing at Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League final.

Those two results highlight a defensive problem for Vancouver Whitecaps as they conceded 10 goals across both matches. However, they have scored in three of their last four away fixtures on the road, all of which have produced over 2.5 goals.
