Liverpool are in the market for a striker, and the English champions have enquired about Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

The Reds, long-term admirers of the Sweden international, have reportedly approached the Magpies to discuss his availability this summer.

Despite Newcastle's long-standing resolution that Isak is not for sale, Liverpool will test their resolve with a club-record bid reported to be around £120 million.

Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in a club record transfer in August 2022. He scored on his club debut against Liverpool and also netted in a 2-1 win over Arne Slot's men in the League Cup final at Wembley in March, earning the club their first domestic title since 1955.

The 26-year-old, who is one of the leading marksmen in world football, is contracted to the Magpies until 2028. He has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle, including 23 goals in 34 Premier League games last season.

Liverpool have already broken their transfer record with the £116m acquisition of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. The Reds are also eyeing Hugo Ekitike, who is on Newcastle's radar, if a deal for Isak fails to materialise.
