Belgium are one win away from sealing their place at the FIFA World Cup as they go away to Kazakhstan in Group J of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers on Saturday.

The Kazakhstanis are showing some improvement lately, but could struggle against the superior quality of the visitors. Having dominated recent meetings with the hosts, the Belgians could be set for another comfortable outing.

Kazakhstan News

Kazakhstan head into this clash off the back of a 1-1 away draw with North Macedonia last time out in the qualifiers. They struck first through Dinmukhamed Karaman but failed to hold on for the win.

That result maintains Kazakhstan’s recent improvement, having eased to a 4-0 home victory over Liechtenstein in their previous fixture. However, despite these good showings, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is out of reach for Talgat Baysufinov’s team, who have lost four of their seven matches and are six points off the playoff places.

Kazakhstan have suffered some heavy losses in this campaign, like the 6-0 defeat to Belgium in the reverse fixture. They have also lost two of their last three home matches in the qualifiers.

Belgium News

Belgium have lived up to their status as the favourites in Group J, having earned four wins and two draws from their six matches. However, sitting just one point clear at the top of the table with a game in hand, Rudi Garcia's team are not home and dry yet and need a win to secure qualification.

The Belgians are coming off a 4-2 away victory over Wales in their previous qualifying fixture. That was also their second straight away victory following a 6-0 triumph over Liechtenstein.

Belgium often impress going forward, having put six goals past Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein. They have found the net in both halves in four of their last five matches while also scoring over 2.5 goals in all four fixtures.

Head to Head

Belgium have never lost in this fixture, with five wins and two draws from seven previous matches against Kazakhstan. The Belgians eased to a 6-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in September.

Verdict

It is usually one-sided between these two teams, with Belgium often dominating. With 6-0 victories over Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein among their results in these qualifiers, the Belgians could be backed in the handicap market.

Belgium’s prolific attack has seen them score over 2.5 goals in four of their last five matches while also finding the net in both halves in all five fixtures. Saturday's clash could be set to follow a similar pattern.
