Juventus welcome Benfica to Allianz Stadium for their opening fixture in the League phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Both teams are showing some good form at the start of their domestic campaigns and will be keen to carry that into Europe. However, the Italians are particularly solid at home and could have the upper hand here.

Juventus do not have a stellar record in the women's Champions League, with their best performance a quarter-final berth back in 2022. They failed to make it out of the group stage last season after picking up just two wins from six matches.

The task for Juventus will be to transmit their domestic form into Europe as they head into this clash unbeaten in six of their last seven matches. Max Canzi’s team played out a 0-0 draw at Sassuolo in a domestic fixture last weekend, but have won their last two home matches.

Goals are not a problem for Juventus, who have scored in five of their last seven matches across all competitions. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last two home matches, with both fixtures producing over 2.5 goals.

Benfica Women News

Benfica boast a similar record to Juventus, with their best performance also a quarter-final berth in 2023-24. Filipa Patao’s team failed to make the group stage last season and will be targeting a fine showing in their return.

The Portuguese side have shown some good form this season and claimed an 8-0 victory over Damaiense in a domestic fixture last weekend. However, their away form needs some work, having failed to win two of their last three matches on the road.

Like the hosts, Benfica have quality going forward, scoring in five of their last six matches. However, they are without a clean sheet in four of those matches, while four of their last five fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

With Juventus’ last two home matches producing over 2.5 goals, a repeat could be in the cards here. The Italians have also won their last two matches in front of their fans and could be set to claim the upper hand in this one.
