Napoli started 2021 with a 4-1 win in Cagliari before throwing away three points in a 2-1 defeat to Spezia. They bounced back with three straight wins.

I Partenopei won 2-1 at Udinese in Serie A and 3-1 at home against Empoli in the Coppa Italia.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side then crushed Fiorentina 6-0 with Lorenzo Insigne bagging a brace and Diego Demme, Hirving Lozano, Piotr Zielinski and Matteo Politano all on target.

Napoli lost 2-0 against Juventus in the Italian Super Cup. Insigne missed a chance to equalise from the penalty spot in the closing stages which proved costly.

Napoli’s last match was a 3-1 defeat at Hellas Verona. Lozano opened the scoring in the 1st minute, but once again they let the lead slip and can have no complaints with the loss.

Spezia were in poor form in Serie A, failing to win in December and losing five of six matches. They bounced back with a 2-1 at Napoli, a big win after going a goal and a man down.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side then won 2-1 at home against Sampdoria with Claudio Terzi and M'Bala Nzola on target. The Little Eagles drew 0-0 at Torino after Luca Vignali was sent off in the 8th minute.

Spezia produced a big upset in the Coppa Italia after winning 4-2 at Roma. They took a 2-0 lead, let it slip but scored twice in extra time against 9 men.

Spezia’s last match was another thriller at Roma, this time a 4-3 defeat in Serie A. Daniele Verde made it 3-3 in the 90th minute but they conceded a minute later which will have infuriated Italiano.
