Inter Milan are aiming to strengthen their lead at the top of the table when they host Napoli in an Italian Serie A fixture on Sunday.

Inter Milan took advantage of stumbles by their title rivals to go three points clear at the top of the table. They claimed a 2-0 victory at Parma in their previous Serie A fixture thanks to goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram.

That was the fourth straight Serie A victory for Inter Milan, who have been in good form lately. Cristian Chivu's team have also won eight of their last 10 home matches across all competitions.

Inter Milan have no attacking issues and have scored in their last 10 matches across all competitions. However, they are without a clean sheet in four of the last six matches on this run, while three of their last four home fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Napoli's title defence suffered a slight setback in midweek, having been held to a 2-2 home draw by Verona in their previous fixture. They fought back from two goals down to earn the point thanks to goals from Scott McTominay and Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

That result means Napoli are now four points off the pace and will be keen to avoid falling further behind. However, their record on the road has been erratic, with four wins and six defeats in their last 10 away matches across all competitions. 

Napoli are solid going forward and have scored in their last five matches across all competitions. However, Antonio Conte's team are without a clean sheet in six of their last 10 away matches.

Inter Milan and Napoli have five wins each, with two draws in the last 12 matches. The hosts claimed a 3-1 home victory in the reverse fixture back in October. 

Verdict

It has not been a particularly smooth title defence for Napoli, who have stumbled lately and often find things difficult on their travels. Inter Milan, on the other hand, have won their last four Serie A matches and should have the edge here.
 
Both teams have scored in the last four meetings, and a repeat is expected here. With three of Inter Milan's last four matches producing over 2.5 goals, a similar outcome could also be on the cards.
