It is an all Nordic affair in the opening Group A fixture at the UEFA European Women's Championship as Iceland face Finland.

Neither team has been consistent in the build-up to this tournament and will consider this opening clash a chance for a fresh start. They should be fired up for this one and could be set to offer up goals.

Iceland come into this clash off the back of a 3-1 victory over Serbia in a pre-tournament friendly. They raced to a two-goal lead at the break through Sandra Jessen and Karolina Vilhjalmsdottir before Sveindis Jonsdottir added the third.

That was a timely return to winning ways for Iceland, who had been winless in their previous nine matches across all competitions. Thorsteinn Halldorsson’s team have been plagued by stalemates lately, with three of their last five matches ending in draws.

Iceland have no problems going forward and have opened the scoring in two of their last three matches. However, they are without a clean sheet in five of their last six matches, with three of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals.

Finland suffered a 2-1 defeat to Netherlands in their final warm-up fixture before the tournament. They struggled against the Dutch team and were two goals down before Oona Siren netted an injury-time consolation.

That was the second straight match without a win for Finland, who were held to a 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw by Serbia in their previous fixture. Their overall form has been erratic having picked up just three wins in their last seven matches across all competitions.

Like their rivals, Finland have also shown some attacking quality lately, scoring in five of their last six matches. Three of the last four fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals while Marko Saloranta’s team have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last two matches.
