It has been a difficult start to the season for Genoa, who are still seeking their first Serie A win after four matches. They suffered a 2-1 defeat at Bologna in their previous fixture in the league. 

While things are rough in the league, Genoa are showing some quality in the Coppa Italia, having claimed a 3-1 victory over Empoli last Thursday. Manager Patrick Vieira will be keen to transmit some of that form into their Serie A campaign.

One of the issues for Genoa is a lack of cutting edge in attack, with three of their four Serie A matches producing under 2.5 goals. Those three matches have also produced under 1.5 goals in both halves, while four of their last five matches across all competitions have been level at the break.

Lazio are not much better than Genoa, having picked up just one win from their opening four Serie A matches. That win came in week 2 as Maurizio Sarri's team eased to a 4-0 home victory over Verona. 

That result has proved to be an outlier for Lazio, who have been beaten three times this season. They have also failed to score in three of their four league matches and suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Roma last time out in Serie A.

Like the hosts, Lazio have served up low-scoring outcomes lately, with three of their four league matches producing over 2.5 goals. Their last two matches have also offered up under 1.5 goals in both halves, while they have been level at the break in two of their four fixtures.

Lazio have nine wins and one draw, while Genoa have been victorious just twice in the last 12 matches. The visitors claimed a 2-0 away win in the last meeting back in April. 

Verdict

Genoa and Lazio have struggled in attack this season, and with four of their last five meetings producing under 2.5 goals, a repeat could be considered here. Four of their last five meetings have also served up under 1.5 goals in both halves, and a similar pattern is on the cards.
