Fluminense are aiming to end a recent rough spell when they host Palmeiras in a Brazilian Serie A fixture.

Both teams have had contrasting fortunes since returning from the FIFA Club World Cup. There are often few goals in this fixture, and another tight contest could be on the cards here.

It has been a rough road for Fluminense since returning from the Club World Cup, having lost their two league matches. They fell 2-0 at home to Cruzeiro before a 1-0 defeat at Flamengo in their previous fixture.

One of the problems for Fluminense is a lack of cutting edge in attack, having failed to score in their last three matches across all competitions. Eight of their last 10 matches have produced under 2.5 goals, while there have been under 1.5 goals in both halves in four of the last six fixtures.

Palmeiras have fared much better than the hosts since returning from the Club World Cup. They played out a 1-1 draw with Mirassol in their first game back before claiming a 3-2 victory over Atletico Mineiro last time out.

Abel Ferreira's team are now up to fourth in the table, seven points off the pace and will be keen to close the gap even further. They have done some good work on their travels, winning eight of their last nine away matches across all competitions.

Like the hosts, Palmeiras have also been involved in a few low-scoring outcomes, with three of their last five away matches producing under 2.5 goals. All three fixtures have also offered up under 1.5 goals in both halves.
