Diogo Jota funeral
Late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, were laid to rest in Gondomar, Portugal on Saturday morning with family and friends as well as current and former teammates in attendance at the funeral.
Jota and his 25-year-old brother were killed in a car accident in the Spanish province of Zamora in the early hours of Thursday, after their Lamborghini caught fire due to a reported tyre burst.
Their families arrived at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church, where Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso, was being consoled by family. Ruben Neves, who was in action for Al-Hilal at the Club World Cup on Friday, helped in carrying Jota's coffin, while Penafiel players carried Andre's.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, captain Virgil Van Dijk, and defender Andy Robertson made their way into the church holding wreaths shaped like football shirts. Reds teammates past and present, including Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez, were also in attendance.
Jota's Portugal teammates Bruno Fernandes, Joao Cancelo, Renato Veiga, Joao Felix, Jose Fonte, Danilo, Adrien Silva, and Bernardo Silva were also present to pay their final respects.
