Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool

Liverpool are looking to snap out of a slump when they travel to Eintracht Frankfurt for a match-day three fixture in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds have been out of sorts lately, while the Germans are also looking unconvincing at the moment. Neither side is showing much defensive solidity, and Wednesday's clash could be set to offer up goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt began their campaign with a 5-1 home victory over Galatasaray, with Jonathan Burkhardt netting a brace. However, they failed to build on that result and were beaten 5-1 at Atletico Madrid in their previous fixture.

Those two results highlight Frankfurt's erratic overall form this season, and they are winless in five of their last seven matches, playing out a 2-2 Bundesliga draw at Freiburg last weekend. Dino Toppmoller’s team have also been unconvincing at home, losing their last two matches in front of their fans.

Burkhardt has been the shining light for Frankfurt, with the forward scoring seven goals across all competitions this season, including three in the Champions League. The Germans are often active after the break, and four of their last five home matches have produced over 1.5 goals in the second half.

Liverpool have a similar Champions League record with Eintracht Frankfurt, having claimed a win and a draw from their two matches. Arne Slot's team earned a 3-2 home victory over Atletico Madrid in their opening fixture before losing 1-0 at Galatasaray last time out.

The defeat in Turkey is part of a poor run for Liverpool, who have lost four straight matches, including a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United last weekend. The Reds have also struggled on their travels this season, losing their last three away matches.

Like the hosts, Liverpool’s games often get lively after the break, with four of their last five matches across all competitions producing over 1.5 second-half goals. There have also been more second-half goals in all four fixtures.
