Eintracht Frankfurt welcome Galatasaray to Deutsche Bank Park for their opening fixture in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Both teams are looking sharp at the start of the season and have been particularly impressive going forward. It should be an open contest on Thursday, and goals could be expected here.

Eintracht Frankfurt are coming off a 3-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen in a German Bundesliga fixture last weekend. They struggled to find their rhythm throughout the contest, with Can Uzun’s second-half effort proving a mere consolation.

Manager Dino Toppmoller will consider that result a minor blip, as Frankfurt’s overall start to the season has been solid enough. They had been victorious in their previous three matches, winning at least one half in all three fixtures.

Eintracht Frankfurt are usually solid going forward and have scored first in three of their four fixtures this season. All four of their matches this term have also produced over 2.5 goals.

Galatasaray News

Galatasaray fell at the playoff stage in last season's Champions League and will be keen to make their mark having reached the league phase this term. Okan Buruk's team have been in good form this season, winning their opening five matches in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Turks will travel to Germany off the back of a 2-0 victory at Eyupspor in a domestic fixture last weekend. That result maintains a solid record on their travels, having won their last three away matches.

Galatasaray are likely to be without star striker Victor Osimhen, who picked up an injury during the international break. However, they have plenty of cover in the forward areas, and four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

The only previous meetings between Eintracht Frankfurt and Galatasaray came during the UEFA Cup in 1992. Both teams battled to a 0-0 draw in Germany before the Turkish side claimed a 1-0 victory in the second meeting.
