In contrast to Bayern Munich's dominant start to the season, Werder Bremen have been unconvincing so far. Horst Steffen’s team have picked up just one win in their last five matches across all competitions.

Werder Bremen have lost three times across all competitions this season and are coming off a 3-0 home defeat to Freiburg last time out in the Bundesliga. However, one positive is that their only win this term has come on the road, a 4-0 victory at Borussia Monchengladbach in their previous away fixture.

It may still be early dates in the season, but Werder Bremen have been involved in more than one heavy defeat, with a 4-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt also among their results. Three of their last four matches have also produced over 1.5 goals in the first half.

Verdict

It is usually a mismatch in this fixture, and given the contrasting starts to the season for both teams, Bayern Munich could be set for another comfortable victory. The champions have won by three or more goals in three of the last four meetings and could be backed in the handicap market on Friday.

Bayern Munich's last three home matches have produced over 1.5 first-half goals, and a similar outcome could be on the cards. Having also won both halves in two of those fixtures, the hosts could be set for a repeat here.
