Barcelona are aiming to bounce back from a slight stumble last time out when they host Valencia in a Spanish La Liga fixture on Sunday. 

With Camp Nou still not ready, the Catalans are forced to play at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Although it is not their regular home ground, they are still expected to maintain their dominance over the visitors, who often struggle in this fixture.

Barcelona stumbled last time out in La Liga as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano prior to the international break. They led at the break through a Lamine Yamal penalty but were pegged back midway through the second half.

While Barcelona are now playing catch-up to rivals Real Madrid, the good news is that they remain unbeaten this season, having won their opening two matches. Having played their first three games away from home, manager Hansi Flick will be pleased to be back on familiar ground, despite the game not being played at Camp Nou. 

Goals often flow freely for Barcelona, who have scored in both halves in six of their last eight matches across all competitions. They can count a 3-0 victory over Mallorca among their results this season, while Ferran Torres has made a bright start to the campaign, scoring twice in three matches.

Valencia head into this clash off the back of a 3-0 home victory over Getafe in their previous La Liga fixture. Mouctar Diakhaby opened the scoring midway through the first half while Arnaut Danjuma and Hugo Duro added further goals after the break. 

Manager, Carlos Corberan, will be pleased to get off the mark for the season, having failed to win their opening two matches. They had lost 1-0 to Osasuna prior to the victory over Getafe. 

The defeat to Osasuna highlights a problem for Valencia that appears to have carried on from last season. Los Che often struggle on their travels and are winless in eight of their last 10 La Liga away matches.

Barcelona often come out on top in this fixture and have nine wins and two draws in the last 12 matches against Valencia, who have been victorious just once. The hosts won all three league and cup meetings last season, claiming a 7-1 victory in the last home clash before winning 5-0 in the Copa Del Rey. 

Verdict

It is often a mismatch in this fixture, with Barcelona usually dominating. Having 7-1 and 5-0 in the last two matches against Valencia and scoring in the two halves in both fixtures, a similar pattern is on the cards here.

Torres has two goals this season and also found the net four times in three matches against Valencia last term. The forward could be backed to get on the score sheet once again.
