Austria are aiming to maintain their perfect record in Group H of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers when they host Cyprus on Saturday.

The Austrians have done some good work at home lately and will be feeling confident heading into this clash. They should be too strong for the visitors, who are struggling at the moment.

Austria News

Austria have made a solid start to the qualifiers, having won their opening two matches. They began with a 2-1 home victory over Romania before easing to a 4-0 away win over San Marino in their previous fixture.

Having played one game less, Austria are currently second in the table, three points behind Bosnia-Herzegovina. Manager Ralf Rangnick will be keen to maintain the pressure on the leaders and are unbeaten in their last eight home matches across all competitions, winning six times on this run.

Austria have quality going forward and have scored in both halves in three of their last five matches, winning both halves in a 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan. Marko Arnautovic remains a vital player for the hosts and netted a brace in the win over San Marino.

Cyprus News

Cyprus have picked up one win from three matches in Group H, a 2-0 victory over San Marino in their opening fixture. Things have been all downhill since that result, with Akis Mantzios’ team losing their last two matches.

The Cypriots head into this clash off the back of a 2-0 away defeat to Romania in their previous fixture. That result is part of a poor record on the road, having lost seven of their last 10 away matches across all competitions.

Cyprus often suffer heavy defeats on their travels and have conceded in both halves in four of their last five away matches. They also lost both halves in recent defeats to Romania and Kosovo.

Head to Head

Austria often come out on top in this fixture and have won four of the last five matches against Cyprus. However, the most recent meeting was a friendly in 2005, which ended 2-1 in favour of the Cypriots.

Verdict

Austria have too much quality for Cyprus and Saturday's clash is likely to be a mismatch. Given their recent knack of scoring and winning both halves at home, the hosts are likely to produce a similar outcome in this one.

Arnautovic continues to impress for Austria and having netted a brace last time out in San Marino, could be backed to get on the score sheet here.
