Atalanta welcome Chelsea to Gewiss Stadium for a match-day six fixture in the UEFA Champions League, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm at the moment. 

Neither side has been convincing lately, and they appear to be struggling defensively. There is enough attacking quality to capitalise on these frailties, and goals could be expected in this one.

Atalanta were in rampant mood last time out in the league phase, claiming a 3-0 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt. That was their third win in the competition, and it put them in the mix for automatic qualification. 

The Bergamo club will head into the clash off the back of a 3-1 Serie A defeat at Verona last Saturday. However, that was their first defeat in the last four matches across all competitions, while Raffaele Palladino’s team have also won their last two home matches. 

Inter Milan have no problems in attack and have scored first in three of their last four matches across all competitions. Five of their last six fixtures have also produced over 2.5 goals, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet six times on this run.

Chelsea also impressed in their previous league phase fixture, earning a 3-0 home victory over Barcelona. They were largely untroubled for much of the contest, with Estevao and Liam Delap among the goals. 

However, it has been mostly downhill since that result, as Chelsea are winless in their last three matches. Enzo Maresca's team are also without a win in three of their last four away matches, playing out a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth last weekend.

Chelsea have looked sharp in attack this season and have scored in nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions. Seven of their last 10 away matches have produced over 2.5 goals, while they have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of those fixtures.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Atalanta and Chelsea.

Verdict

Atalanta and Chelsea will be keen to build on their fine wins last time out in the league phase and will be fired up for this one. With neither side looking convincing at the back, both teams could be backed to score.
 
With five of Atalanta’s six matches producing over 2.5 goals, a repeat could be considered here. Having also grabbed the opening goal in three of their last four matches, the Bergamo club could be tipped to strike first on Tuesday.
